NWOL Turn Scheduling
During peace or truce:
- Turns every 7 days (normally either Monday or Thursday).
- Declaration of war and/or requests for campaigns take effect
immediately
if made five days (120 hours) or more prior to turn deadline. If
declaration of war is made less than five days
prior to deadline, the declaration does not take effect until
the
following turn. If a
campaign is initated, the scheduled peace/truce turn becomes a
campaign
turn, and
declarations of war can be made and take effect up to 48 hours
before
turn
deadline. If a campaign is not initated, the peace/truce turn
runs as
scheduled. If a campaign request has been made less than five
days
prior to deadline, then the next turn
is a campaign turn, and set for 7 days after the peace/truce
turn. If
not, the next turn is a peace/truce turn, and set for 7 days
after the
peace/truce turn.
During campaign:
- Turns every 3/4 days (normally Monday and Thursday).
- Declarations of war take effect immediately if made 48 hours
or
more
prior
to turn deadline, otherwise they take effect for the following
turn.
They have no effect on the turn schedule.
- Peace agreements take effect immediately and have no effect on
turn schedule unless all nations at war have made peace or
agreed to
truces. If so, then if more than 48 hours remain before turn
deadline,
and no further declarations of war are received, the campaign
turn is
cancelled and end of campaign reports are printed at once. If
less than
48 hours remain, then the next turn is carried out
as scheduled as a campaign turn, and end of campaign reports are
printed
the following day.
- Truces take effect immediately. They have no effect on turn
schedule
unless all nations at war have made peace or agreed to truce, in
which
case the same rules apply that apply for peace agreements.
- If all nations at war reach peace or truce agreements, then if
a
declaration of war is received more than 48 hours before the
turn
deadline, then the campaign continues as a result of the new
war. If
the declaration is received less than 48 hours before the turn
deadline, then it is evaluated as it if was received after the
end of
the campaign (below).
- After T15, the campaign ends even if nations remain at war.
End
of campaign
reports are printed the day after T15 runs (normally Tuesday or
Friday).
End of campaign
- No orders are processed, but reports are printed to include
return of wounded,
prisoners,
stragglers, and shattered units, and manpower/finance for the
season.
- After reports are printed, the next turn is scheduled as a
peace/truce turn, 7 days after the deadline of the last campaign
turn
(including any turn that was cancelled).
- If there is no state at war when the campaign ends, then
nations
may
not
open a new campaign until the scheduled peace turn is run. This
ensures
that when hostilities end there will always be at least one
peace turn.
If a state is at war when the campaign ends, then that state may
open a
new campaign, but a state not at war may not do so.
- Declarations of war, and initiation of campaigns when
permitted
under the above rule, take effect immediately if
made
more than five days prior to the scheduled peace/truce
turn. A legal initiation of a campaign changes the scheduled
peace/truce
turn
to a campaign turn, as it does for any other peace/truce turn
(see
above). If declaration of war or initiation of campaign are
made less than five days prior to the scheduled peace/truce
turn, they
take effect for the following turn, 7 days after the scheduled
peace/truce turn.
