Enter the number of regiments and batteries you want to transfer between units, followed by the unit you want them transferred from, and the unit you want them transferred into. For example, if you enter "2" into the Men box, "1" into the "Batteries" box, "PR1IN" into the "From: " box and "PR2IN" into the "Into: " box, then two regiments and one battery will be removed from PR1IN and added to PR2IN. The two units must be of the same type; that is, IN may not transfer to MC, LA may not be transferred to HA, and similarly. (You can request that the GA manually transfer batteries can be transferred between IN/LI and LA and conversely, and between cavalry and and HA and conversely, but you cannot yet order it via the form.) Units must be in the same strategic square to merge; if hostile units are present in the same strategic square, then they must be in the same tactical square.

For an infantry, cavalry, or militia source unit, the number of men transferred will be equal to the number of men in the source unit (minus any artillerists in a infantry or cavalry unit) times the fraction of the unit's regiments being transferred, plus 100 for any battery transferred. For an artillery unit, the number of men transferred will be equal to the number of men in the source unit times the fraction of the unit's batteries being transferred. Example: If an infantry unit with 2200 men in 3 regiments and 1 battery transfers away 1 regiment, then 700 men will transfer ((2200 men - 100 artillerists)/3). If an artillery units with 240 men and 4 batteries transfers away 1 battery, 60 men (240/4) will be transferred.

Each side's War Minister, Prime Minister, and Monarch are authorized to transfer men and batteries between that side's units. The CO or XO of the unit that is giving up the regiments or batteries may also submit a transfer order for his unit.

Infantry units may not be raised above 4000 men and one battery, nor below 1500 men. Cavalry units may not be raised above 2000 men and one battery, nor below 750 men. Artillery may not be raised above 400 men and 4 batteries, nor below 200 men and 2 batteries. Militia units may not be raised above 1500 men nor below 500, and may not have batteries. If a transfer order would violate these limits, the order is not carried out. Headquarters units may not transfer men at all. (In unusual cases, ask the GA for a manual intervention.)
